On October 3, 2016, the president of Stadtschulrat Wien, Mag Jürgen Czernohorszky, welcomed Dr Michelle Purghart as the new director of Danube International School Vienna and was impressed with the facilities and student engagement he observed while on his tour of the school.
Danube International School Vienna believes that leadership is a shared state that all members of the community (students, parents, teachers, principals and directors) must embrace to enable the school to fulfill its Vision, Mission, Values and Aims. Below are some quotes that summarize some of the ideals of leadership at DISV.
"The very essence of leadership is that you have to have a vision."
".. the function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers."
"The leaders who work most effectively, it seems to me, never say "I." And that's not because they have trained themselves not to say "I." They don't think "I." They think "we"; they think "team." They understand their job to be to make the team function. They accept responsibility and don't sidestep it, but "we" gets the credit. This is what creates trust, what enables you to get the task done."
"A community is like a ship; everyone ought to be prepared to take the helm."
It is the responsibility of the leadership team to enable the goals and quotes above to come to fruition.
