At Danube International Elementary School (DISV) we recognize our learners’ innate potential to inquire, question, and wonder about themselves, others, and the world around them. Our students are at the centre of the educational process and are seen as partners in learning. In our classrooms, student’s socio-emotional, physical and cognitive development are nurtured, allowing each student to pursue their own interests in a supportive and challenging environment. Learning and Teaching in the Elementary school begins with the belief that students are agents of their own learning. As an IB World School, we deliver the IB Primary Years Program (PYP) from our Early Years Unit to Grade Five. Our program is underpinned by the attributes of integrity, honesty, open-mindedness, compassion, respect and empathy as we believe these attributes empower our students to become responsible members of our local, national and global community. Our students learn through a transdisciplinary and conceptual inquiry approach which promotes learning that transfers across disciplines and subjects. We believe in nurturing student curiosity, valuing student questions and learning through hands-on experiences that are connected to the real world. Our students develop approaches to learning (ALT) which equip them with the thinking, communication, research, self-management and social skills to understand themselves as a learner. Our students also have the opportunity to participate in our comprehensive activities program designed to enhance students’ learning experience.
As a community of learners, we look to our students and their families, school members, and the community at large to be active participants in enriching our students' learning. We value open communication and partnership with our families to ensure each child reaches their full potential.
Our hope for our Elementary students is that they will develop the knowledge, conceptual understandings, skills and dispositions to make a difference in their own lives, their communities, and beyond.
