Learning Beyond the Classroom

From museum visits to international conferences – discover how our students learn beyond the classroom.

Beyond the school walls

We regularly take our students beyond the school walls to enhance their learning experience through short visits and full-day excursions. Vienna is a vibrant and culturally rich city, offering countless opportunities right on our doorstep from the Prater Park and Hundertwasserhaus to the Albertina and the United Nations.

Real-world learning helps our students connect classroom concepts with authentic experiences, deepening their understanding and sparking curiosity about the world around them.

Ice Skating and Swimming

All students in our Elementary School take part in ice skating and swimming as part of our structured school programme. These activities are designed to build confidence, coordination, and resilience, while encouraging a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity.

Our inclusive fee structure covers all day trips, ensuring every student can take part in these valuable learning experiences without additional cost.

Residential Trips

All students in Grades 2–5 have the opportunity to take part in a residential trip within Austria, alongside their classmates and teachers. These trips focus on team building, resilience, and embracing challenges, fostering the values at the heart of both the IB and the Danube International School Vienna spirit.

Our inclusive fee structure ensures every student can fully participate, creating lasting memories and experiences that support personal growth and a sense of community.
