Beyond The Classroom

At Danube International School Vienna, learning extends far beyond the classroom.

Secondary beyond the classroom

Our secondary students regularly take part in educational visits and full-day excursions that bring their studies to life.

Vienna provides an extraordinary backdrop for this kind of experiential learning from exploring art and architecture at the Albertina and Hundertwasserhaus, to engaging with global issues at the United Nations or discovering the city’s history and science museums.

These experiences encourage independence, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of how academic knowledge applies in the real world, preparing our students to be informed, active, and curious global citizens.

Our inclusive fee structure covers all day trips, ensuring every student can take part in these valuable learning experiences without additional cost.

Challenge Weeks

Students in Grades 6–10 participate in our annual Challenge Weeks, designed to push boundaries, develop resilience, and strengthen teamwork. These immersive experiences take students out of the classroom and into real-world settings, encouraging problem-solving, leadership, and collaboration.

Challenge Weeks embody the spirit of the IB and Danube International School Vienna, giving students the opportunity to grow personally and socially while forging strong connections with their peers and teachers.

Our inclusive fee structure ensures every student can fully participate, creating lasting memories and experiences that support personal growth and a sense of community.

Overnight Trips

In addition to our core residential trips, students may have the opportunity to take part in optional experiences such as Model United Nations (MUN), theatre visits, language immersion trips, debating events, and more. These activities provide further opportunities for personal growth, skill development, and cultural enrichment.

Participation in these optional trips is entirely voluntary, with costs covered by parents.
