Our English Language Development (ELD) programme provides targeted support so that students can access the IB curriculum with confidence and develop strong communication skills in English.
Specialists and Learning Support
Our ELD specialists and learning support teachers work closely with classroom teachers and families to set individual goals, monitor progress, and celebrate achievements.
Many of our teachers at DISV are qualified to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) or have completed ESL in the mainstream training, enabling them to integrate language support naturally into the curriculum.
English Language Development Lessons
ELD assistants also support students in mainstream classrooms across Grades 1 to 5, ensuring inclusion and continuity in learning.
Students who are new to English receive additional support from ELD specialist teachers in small groups from Grade 1 to Grade 5. In the Elementary School, these sessions take place instead of German.
