Secondary Learning Support
In the Secondary School, our Learning Support team works closely with teachers, students, and families to provide personalised guidance that enables every learner to reach their full potential.
We focus on building confidence, independence, and effective learning strategies — whether students need targeted skill development, ongoing academic support, or assistance in managing their learning load.
Learning support at DISV: unlocking possibilities
DISV is an inclusive community. We celebrate all of our students and their contribution to our school. Some of our students need to learn in different ways, and our learning support programme ensures that they all have equal access to the curriculum. We enjoy working with students who may have struggled in the past and helping them achieve success and grow in confidence.
Support can include:
assessment accommodations e.g. additional time or use of a word processor with spell check;
co-teaching by a learning support professional in mainstream classes;
skills classes (instead of French or Spanish; average class size 5 students);
an Individual Education Plan, with personal goals agreed by learning support staff, teachers and parents
More intensive, individualised support can be provided for students with particular needs.
Please note that learning support is an additional paid programme and resources and places are limited.
